Instead of the familiar&nbsp;40-tonne tanks, 14-tonne BMP-1 infantry fighting vehicles took part in the competition.<strong><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"\" height=\"1024\" src=\"http:\/\/stalin-line.by\/images\/News\/News2018\/ocherednoj-etap-tankovogo-biatlona-belarus-2018-proshel-v-neobychnom-formate\/IMG_6414-1024x1024.jpg\" width=\"100%\" \/>Alexander Metla<\/strong>, Executive Director of the Stalin Line Historical and Cultural Complex, described how the competition unfolded:<\/p>\n<p>\n\t<iframe loading=\"lazy\" allow=\"autoplay; encrypted-media\" allowfullscreen=\"\" frameborder=\"0\" height=\"608\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/GNawo7CXDYU?feature=oembed\" width=\"1080\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>\n\tFour crews took part in the BMP-1 Tank Biathlon show, competing in military vehicle handling, speed over the course, obstacle negotiation, and firing the main and secondary armament. The competition also included embarking and disembarking troops to carry out a combat mission to capture an enemy fortified position.&nbsp;This required close coordination not only within the BMP crew, but also with the dismounted infantry section.<\/p>\n<p>\n\tThis time, the military vehicles did not crush any cars \u2014 they were not heavy enough \u2014 but their speeds and manoeuvres were truly extraordinary. The competition began with a demonstration run by the Stalin Line Historical and Cultural Complex\u2019s BMD-1 crew, commanded by Alexander Metla.<img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"\" height=\"576\"
