The “Battle of the Cars” took place at Stalin Line on 26 September 2015.
Ahead of the event, a small exhibition of classic cars was held, where Yevgeny Veryovkin’s car attracted particular interest from spectators. It was a GAZ-21 Volga, a car dear to the hearts of Soviet people, but it turned out that he had built it on the platform of a Japanese Mazda Millenia!
Nearby stood the proudly displayed humpbacked workhorse, the VAZ-2102 ‘Two’. The sight of the famous German Beetle may have reminded visitors of one of the car’s creators, Ferdinand Porsche, the renowned Wehrmacht tank designer. Yet hardly anyone remembered that the car’s particularly elegant appearance was shaped by a failed artist who went down in history as the leader of the Third Reich.
Just before the Battle of the Cars, visitors had plenty of time to enjoy tank rides and have their photographs taken with the charming ‘Papuan girls’.
