Conference on Preserving Historical Heritage

A conference on preserving historical heritage, organised at the initiative of the Russian Military Historical Society, was held in Moscow and included a video presentation of museums in the Republic of Belarus.

The conference participants included Vladimir Churov, Chairman of Russia’s Central Election Commission; representatives of the Executive Committee of the Commonwealth of Independent States and the Russian Ministry of Defence; the Belarusian Ambassador; directors of Russian museums; scholars; and archivists.
Presentations on the work being carried out in Belarus to preserve its memorial heritage were given by Nikolai Skobelev, Director of the Belarusian State Museum of the History of the Great Patriotic War; Grigory Bysyuk, Director of the Brest Fortress Memorial Complex; and Alexander Metla, Executive Director of the “Memory of Afghanistan” Foundation. Alexander Metla spoke about the origins and construction of the Stalin Line Historical and Cultural Complex, the creation of its exhibition and its current activities.
Following the presentations, the conference participants outlined plans for events marking the 75th anniversary of the Great Victory.
