To the Victors from the Heirs of Victory

On 8 May 2006, representatives of 28 countries of the anti-Hitler coalition joined our veterans and pupils from Loshany School in planting the “Garden of the Heirs of Victory” at the Stalin Line Historical and Cultural Complex.
Each tree was planted jointly by a veteran and a young person, thereby emphasising the continuity and connection between generations. Children and grandchildren of veterans from neighbouring countries and further afield also took part in the event. Veterans and representatives of delegations from Belgium, the United Kingdom, Italy, Canada, China, Cuba, France and the United States spoke at the rally. They expressed their appreciation to the country's leadership and everyone who had organised the initiative.

Ten years passed, and the garden bore fruit. It was harvested by pupils from Loshany School.

On 5 October 2016, the “Memory of Afghanistan” Charitable Foundation held the “To the Victors from the Heirs of Victory” initiative, during which 25 veterans of the Great Patriotic War received congratulations and two sacks of apples and pears each from the garden. The gifts were presented by A. V. Golubovich, Assistant Director of the Foundation for Veterans’ Affairs. It transpired that many veterans of various nationalities live in the Belarusian capital, and we visited only those suggested by the Belarusian Association of Disabled War Veterans. Although all the veterans were aged 90 or over, they were cheerful and in good spirits. The eldest, Lev Semyonovich Gurevich, was 98 years old!
