76 mm Regimental Gun M1927

In the summer of 2012, divers from the Captain Morgan diving club, led by Vyacheslav Romanovich, discovered a 76 mm regimental gun M1927 on the bed of the Western Dvina River.

 

 

 

 Two years later, they raised the regimental gun from the riverbed and photographed Vyacheslav Romanovich beside it.

 

 

They filmed not only the recovery of the regimental gun, but also the removal of algae and sand from it.

 

 

 Alexander Vasilyevich Golubovich, Assistant Director of the “Memory of Afghanistan” Charitable Foundation, also took part in the recovery. He is on the far right in the photograph/

 

 

On 29 June 2014, the gun was delivered to the Stalin Line Historical and Cultural Complex.

 

 

 The regimental gun was restored by our restorers Vladimir Yakushev (left in the photograph), Alexander Mikalutsky (third from left), and Alexei and Maxim Yakushev. Their work was inspected by Alexander Mikhailovich Metla, Director of the “Memory of Afghanistan” Foundation (pictured wearing a greatcoat and Budenovka).

 

 

Sergei Zakharov (pictured aiming the gun) and Anton Zaitsev worked on restoring the gun’s breech assembly.

 

 

 On 18 November 2014, ahead of Artillerymen’s Day, the restored, fully operational regimental gun was unveiled at Stalin Line. Divers from the Captain Morgan Underwater Club were invited to the ceremony. Sergei Zakharov demonstrated the gun’s first shot to Alexander Mikhailovich.

 

 

This was followed by a short battle reenactment featuring the restored gun. Afterwards, visitors were able to take a closer look at it.

 

 

Since then, the 76 mm regimental gun has taken part in reenactments of battles of the Great Patriotic War.
