Airborne Forces and Special Operations Forces Day at Stalin Line

On 2 August, Stalin Line hosted celebrations marking Airborne Forces and Special Operations Forces Day.
Visitors could have their photograph taken free of charge while holding a weapon in front of a special event banner.
Artists performed.
The complex featured a camp representing the Limited Contingent of Soviet Forces in Afghanistan, as well as a Mujahideen encampment.
Visitors could try on Soviet uniform, feel the weight of military body armour, take up position in a machine-gun emplacement and have their photograph taken free of charge.
At 14:00, young parachutists with around a thousand jumps between them demonstrated their skill by landing right beside the spectator stands.
Immediately before the battle reenactment, young members of the “Defender of the Fatherland” Club performed under the direction of internationalist veteran Grigory Mamaiko.
This was followed by a reenactment of a battle from the Soviet–Afghan War.
After the battle reenactment, dog handlers gave a demonstration.
The Airborne Forces Bar was open throughout the day, with a unique paratrooper-themed interior.
The paratroopers were the heroes of the day.
Visitors could also take a helicopter flight over Stalin Line in a Mi-2. Demand was so high that a second Mi-2 arrived to assist the first.
As on every event day at the complex, the Ready for Labour and Defence (GTO) competition area was open free of charge, with the winners receiving commemorative gifts at the end of the day.
