On 25 May, Border Guards Day was celebrated at Stalin Line.
The historical reenactment began with scenes depicting life in the Belarusian village of Radoshkovichi when it was part of Poland, and Soviet border guards carrying out their duties in the neighbouring territory.
On 1 September 1939, Germany invaded Poland. German armoured vehicles bore white crosses, which became a symbol of the beginning of the Second World War.
The swift fall of Poland was followed on 17 September 1939 by the Red Army’s entry into Western Belarus, the unification of our lands within a single republic, and the demarcation of the Soviet–German border.
The restoration of peaceful life on Belarusian soil was interrupted on 22 June 1941 by Germany’s invasion of the Soviet Union.
