On 7 September 2019, Tankers’ Day celebrations were held at the Stalin Line Historical and Cultural Complex with the support of the Ministry of Defence of the Republic of Belarus.
Visitors were treated to a military-historical reenactment of the heroic events of the Great Patriotic War. The reenactment featured the “Soldiers of Victory” military-history club and original military vehicles from the 1930s and 1940s.
Residents and visitors to the Republic of Belarus saw genuine Soviet KV-1, T-34-76 and BT-7 tanks, a German StuG III assault gun and other unique examples of military equipment. Radek Haraszta and Kazuharo Iwahashi, reenactors from the Czech Republic and Japan, took part on the Red Army side.
The reenactment was followed by a demonstration by the Belarusian tank biathlon team featuring the T-72B3 tank that represented Belarus at the International Tank Biathlon in Alabino.
Before the reenactment, visitors even had the opportunity to climb onto the tank and take photographs.
Visitors could explore the recently opened “Our Armoured Train” Exhibition, watch performances by artists, fire airsoft and deactivated weapons, and even hit a German tank with a shot fired from a Soviet tank! As always, several interactive areas were open: visitors could test their knowledge in a history quiz, try airgun shooting, assemble and disassemble weapons, and take part in other workshops. The most active participants in the Ready for Labour and Defence (GTO) area received commemorative prizes and a tank ride.
Visitors from the Netherlands, the United Kingdom, Australia, Finland, Latvia, Moldova and China came to see the Tankers’ Day celebrations.
