“Threads of Memory” Forum at the Stalin Line Historical and Cultural Complex

On 13 August, the Union State “Threads of Memory” Forum was held at the Stalin Line Historical and Cultural Complex, attended by Belarusian schoolchildren and cadets from the Mikhailovsky Cadet Corps in Voronezh. The young people are staying at “Heirs of Victory”, the only military-patriotic camp in Belarus, located within the grounds of the Stalin Line Historical and Cultural Complex.

 

The forum participants were welcomed by Alexander Mikhailovich Metla, Director of the “Memory of Afghanistan” Foundation, and Alexander Alexandrovich Metla, Executive Director of the Stalin Line Historical and Cultural Complex. Other participants included Lidia Vasilyevna Ivinskaya, Headteacher of Loshany Secondary School; Elena Iosifovna Reznik, Chair of the Loshany Rural Executive Committee; and Elena Mikhailovna Korotina, Deputy Director for Academic and Educational Affairs at the Mikhailovsky Cadet Corps. The national anthems of Russia and Belarus were performed, followed by presentations from the young people.

 

 

This was followed by a discussion session, during which the schoolchildren and cadets asked questions of the older participants. A short performance and a group photograph followed.

 

 

 The “Threads of Memory” Forum concluded with a joint prayer in the Chapel of the Right-Believing Prince Alexander Nevsky. The forum participants prayed to the Lord for the war in Ukraine to end safely, for the repose of those who had died, for reconciliation between the parties and for the humane treatment of prisoners.  They also prayed for the repose of the souls of fallen militia officers, police officers, gendarmes, Chernobyl clean-up workers, firefighters, airmen, Red Army soldiers who died in the Great Patriotic War, veterans who died in Afghanistan and Chechnya, all our soldiers who laid down their lives on the battlefield, and all those who died in the line of duty.
