Kontrol-16 Club on the Ministry of Internal Affairs’ Role in the Chernobyl Disaster Response

On 4 May 2023, members of the Kontrol-16 Club visited Minsk State College of Mechanical Engineering to give a lecture entitled “The Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant Disaster and the Role of Soviet Militia Officers in the Response”.  

The students were told about the sequence of events on 26 April 1986 and the life-saving mission carried out by Ministry of Internal Affairs units in the disaster zone.  They were also shown personal protective equipment for radiological, chemical and biological hazards, as well as equipment for measuring background radiation.
