Maslenitsa at Stalin Line

Maslenitsa was celebrated at Stalin Line from 12 to 14 March.

Visitors competed in tug-of-war, ring tossing and air-rifle shooting.

They also took part in a hobby-horse relay race and pancake tossing.

But the most popular activity was sack fighting on a log,

and climbing a pole to win prizes. Some relied solely on their own strength.

Others relied on help from their friends.

And still others relied on the power of prayer!

Competitors were treated to a Maslenitsa pancake with tea and a free photo session in the samovar-themed photo area.

The Maslenitsa celebrations ended with the burning of an effigy of winter.
