Thanks to close cooperation between the Stalin Line Historical and Cultural Complex and Loshany Secondary School, the first session of the “Heirs of Victory” Defence and Sports Camp opened at the complex on 8 August!
Theme: “Restoration of a Soviet Pioneer Camp”
Aim: To improve the system of patriotic education for pupils, develop new forms of intellectually stimulating and meaningful leisure activities for young people, create opportunities to enhance pupils’ intellectual and cultural development, and foster patriotic qualities.
Objectives: To foster high moral and psychological qualities among young people, together with a spirit of mutual assistance and comradeship;
To assess their knowledge, skills and abilities in basic applied physical training and history;
To promote healthy-living skills;
To improve the effectiveness of military-patriotic education for young people and instil a love of their homeland.
All pupils attending the defence and sports camp wear matching Soviet-style Pioneer uniforms. They enjoy comfortable accommodation in both barracks and military tents. The complex’s 36 hectares are at their disposal for intellectual challenges, orienteering sessions and sports activities. Every day, they learn about the Pioneer movement and the Pioneer Heroes. They are also taught by members of the complex’s staff who previously lectured at the Military Academy of the Republic of Belarus. Activities include drill training, assembling and disassembling a mock-up AK, and studying the general layout and technical and tactical specifications of tanks and the BMP-1. The Pioneers visited an interactive exhibition featuring uniforms worn by Soviet-era internal affairs agencies and by those of post-Soviet countries during the 1990s. Militia uniforms from across the Soviet Union were displayed, dating from the mid-1930s until the country’s dissolution. The pupils took part in practical sessions using simulation equipment, including deploying and packing away the system and operating the equipment in the field; History of Weapons, covering the role of weapons in the development of human society; Practical Weapons Handling, covering weapon safety and the basic operating principles of small-arms components and mechanisms; a further practical session using simulation equipment, including deploying and packing away the system and operating the equipment in the field; Fundamentals of Guided Tours, covering the principles of tour guiding and methods for conducting guided tours around the Stalin Line Historical and Cultural Complex; and the lecture “Restoration of Armoured Vehicles at the Stalin Line Historical and Cultural Complex”,
Training sessions with border guards and a guided tour of the Border Service Institute of the Republic of Belarus.
