On 14 March, the Kontrol-16 Military-Historical Club (a section of the Soldiers of Victory Club) will hold a field exercise as part of the “Dog Waltz” series of events.
This event is dedicated to the First Chechen Campaign and will recreate the circumstances of spring 1996, when measures to restore constitutional order in the North Caucasus were nearing completion. The scenario will centre on a composite detachment of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, reinforced by a motor rifle squad from the Russian Armed Forces. Its task will be to contain and eliminate a well-organised, equipped and armed militant group commanded by a renowned field commander. The participants will portray Russian Federation motor rifle and internal troops, OMON police officers and SOBR officers of the Regional Directorate for Combating Organised Crime on one side, and militants from illegal armed formations on the other. They will cover a route of several kilometres on foot, with combat engagements taking place along the way.
