A Large-Scale Military-Historical Reenactment Took Place at the Stalin Line Historical and Cultural Complex on Border Guards Day.

On 26 May 2018, the Stalin Line Historical and Cultural Complex hosted celebrations for residents and visitors to the Republic of Belarus marking the 100th anniversary of the Border Troops!

Visitors witnessed a live military-historical reenactment recreating the events that took place at the border posts in the Vladimir-Volynsky sector on 22 June 1941, when the border guards bore the brunt of the first brutal assault of the German invasion.

The recreated episode was a composite portrayal, but similar events took place in one form or another along the entire western border of the USSR.

Each border post guarded a six-to-eight-kilometre sector of the state border. The front of an advancing German division was the same width. It is therefore hardly surprising that the border guards had to fight superior enemy forces along the entire western border. The enemy outnumbered them by between six and twenty to one in manpower and by between five and seventeen to one in small arms. Surrounded, the border posts fought to the last round.

In the Vladimir-Volynsky sector, the 4th, 6th, 12th and 14th Border Posts of the 90th Vladimir-Volynsky Border Detachment were wiped out to the last man. Some border posts held their positions even when completely surrounded.

In addition to the main programme, several interactive areas were open to visitors. Everyone could try their hand at a history quiz, airgun shooting, weapon assembly and disassembly, and other workshops. The most active participants in the Ready for Labour and Defence (GTO) area received certificates, commemorative souvenirs and the grand prize – a tank ride!
