A DT (Degtyaryov tank) machine gun was restored to working order at Stalin Line for use in historical reenactments dedicated to the Great Patriotic War.
As required by law, it was converted to fire blank ammunition only. A special obstruction was installed in the barrel to prevent live ammunition from being fired. As blank cartridges have no bullets, a special insert had to be fitted inside the machine gun’s circular magazine so that the shorter blank cartridges could sit correctly within it.
The restored machine gun is now used regularly in tanks during historical reenactments.
