Historical and Cultural Complex Stalin Line
The Stalin Line Historical and Cultural Complex is one of the most impressive fortification complexes in Belarus. It was created to mark the 60th anniversary of the Soviet people’s Victory in the Great Patriotic War, at the initiative of the “Memory of Afghanistan” Charitable Foundation and with the support of the President of the Republic of Belarus. The complex was built as a nationwide community project involving government and public organisations, enterprises with various forms of ownership, and volunteers. Most of the work involved in creating the museum was undertaken by engineering units of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Belarus. The complex opened on 30 June 2005. It was created not only to commemorate the vast system of defensive fortifications that formed the Stalin Line, but also to serve as a symbol of the Soviet people’s heroic struggle against the German fascist invaders.
