The official opening of the Stalin Line Historical and Cultural Complex took place on 30 June 2005. Alexander Grigoryevich Lukashenko, President of the Republic of Belarus, attended the opening. He was welcomed by Alexander Mikhailovich Metla, Director of the “Memory of Afghanistan” Foundation and the official directly responsible for the construction of the Stalin Line Historical and Cultural Complex, who reported to the Head of State that the assigned task had been successfully completed. The President thanked those who had taken part in building the complex.
Historian Alexander Bazarnov, one of the principal advocates behind the construction of the Stalin Line Historical and Cultural Complex, invited war veteran Andrei Shostak, who had fought in the Minsk Fortified Region, to attend the opening. Historians Ivan Volkov and Sergei Zakharov invited a group of Red Army reenactors.
At the first map of the new complex, guests were welcomed by reenactor Anatoly Matyash, armed with an SVT-40 rifle. Folk songs were performed, while visitors enjoyed soldiers’ porridge, viewed the exhibits and met former comrades-in-arms.
Before the reenactment began, the President made his way to the stands, which were filled with guests. An orchestra was playing.
A reenactment of a Great Patriotic War battle then began, ending in our Victory.
